Córdoba

As part of my program, I joined other students and went to Córdoba for a day trip. It is a small city in the Andalucía region of Spain.

Mezquita-Catedral

This is the most famous site in Córdoba. Historically the site is a Mosque but it is practiced as a Cathedral. It is super cool because the different layers of rock show different reigns.

The combination of Arab and Roman influence creates an incredible building. In the photo I have attached, you can see the intricate design of the tabernacle and the complexity of one of many domes.

It is definitely necessary to do a tour if you want to grasp the history of the space.

Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos

We had a bit of free time and went to explore more of Córdoba. Alcázar translates to “castle” and this was the castle of the Christian royalty. It was beautiful, as all of the alcazars are. What was truly unique was the garden and the pools. You can see below.

This trip was a perfect day trip. As someone just visiting, you don’t need any more time.

xoxo,

Adelaide
